Many residents who live in Freehold Township consider it not only a great place to live, but a safe place to live and raise a family. Located in Monmouth County, NJ, it offers a suburban environment, yet still provides residents with plenty of opportunities to enjoy numerous activities.
Locals describe Freehold Township as an overall friendly community and say the town is "not too big and not too small". There are plenty of restaurants, parks and a variety of things to do in and around the immediate area. Only a 25 minute car ride to many of the beautiful Jersey Shore beaches and approximately 60 miles to New York City, Atlantic City and Philadelphia. The Freehold Raceway Mall is a favorite place to visit amongst both locals and out-of-town visitors. Freehold also features Iplay America, a popular entertainment venue for both children & adults and Six Flags Great Adventure located in Jackson, NJ is only a short drive from the Freehold area.
Freehold Township borders Colts Neck Township, Howell Township, Manalapan Township, Marlboro Township and Millstone Township in Monmouth County, and Jackson Township in Ocean County.
Freehold Township can be broken down into two sections. East Freehold, which is closer to Route 18 and the Henry Hudson Trail and West Freehold which is closer to Route 9 and CentraState Hospital.
According to GreatSchools.org, Freehold Township offers some of the most highly rated public schools. Students in public school for ninth through twelfth grades attend Freehold Township High School, which is part of The Freehold Regional High School District. The Freehold Regional High School District also serves students from Colts Neck Township, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Howell, Freehold Borough, Manalapan and Marlboro Townships. Students from Freehold can apply to participate in one of the Freehold Regional Learning Center Magnet programs within these six schools.
