Today, we are visiting the Whittier Oaks West community in Morganville, New Jersey. Morganville is a subsection of Marlboro and is part of Marlboro Township. However, it does have its own ZIP code, which is 07751. There are a few Whittier Oaks developments within Marlboro. The section we are visiting today is the Whittier Oaks West development. It’s located right off Route 9 and near Union Hill Road.
About the Homes
The homes in Whittier Oaks West were built in the mid to late 1960s. They all offer public water and sewer, and most have two-car garages, with many also including basements. As we go through the neighborhood, you can see various types of homes. Colonials, split levels, ranches, and bi-levels are all situated on nicely sized properties. Most of the homes offer four bedrooms and two and a half baths, but there are a few homes with three bedrooms and a few with five-plus bedrooms.
One of the great things about buying a home in Whittier Oaks is that when the homes were originally built, they put in hardwood floors. Many people put carpeting over the hardwood floors back then, but now you can pull up the carpeting, refinish the floors underneath, and have beautiful hardwood floors throughout your home.

People choose to live in Whittier Oaks West for many reasons. The first reason is its desirable location. Because it’s located right off Route 9, you can easily access numerous places. ShopRite grocery store is right off Union Hill Road, and you also have a Wawa, Dunkin’ Donuts, several pizzerias, and much more, all within a one-mile radius. Traveling to New York City from here is great. You can pick up the bus from Route 9 and arrive at Port Authority in about an hour.

Schools and Education
Another reason people like living here is the school district. If you live in Whittier Oaks West, your child will attend Robertsville for elementary school, Marlboro Memorial for middle school, and Marlboro High School for high school. The high school is part of the Freehold Regional High School District, attending to children in ninth through twelfth grades, and it is the largest regional high school in New Jersey. The district includes six high schools: Marlboro, Freehold Township, Freehold Borough, Manalapan, Howell, and Colts Neck.
The students have the opportunity to explore their interests and passions in many ways, with all the different magnet and international programs offered. These programs are four-year courses of study, and many of the students go on to attend higher education, including some of the most prestigious colleges in the nation.
Affordability and Pricing
Lastly, people choose to live here because it’s one of the more affordable neighborhoods in Marlboro Township to live. Although it’s definitely not inexpensive to buy a home here, the homes are likely to be more reasonable than some of the neighboring communities.
Home Prices
In the past year, four homes were sold. They sold between $660,000 and $715,000. The home that sold for $660,000 was a split-level style home with about 2,400 square feet of living space. The home that sold for $715,000 had a little bit less square footage. However, that was a colonial-style home, and colonials tend to carry a higher price tag.
Property Taxes
As for property taxes, you can expect to pay around $9,000 to $12,000 a year, which for the area is very reasonable. If you are considering moving to the Marlboro area and looking to stay within a reasonable budget, I definitely recommend exploring the Whittier Oaks communities.
