5 Things to Know Before Moving to Hazlet, New Jersey

February 22, 2024 by Melissa DeSantis Leave a Comment

If you plan on moving to a new town, Hazlet, New Jersey, might be the perfect place for you! With its ideal location, beautiful scenery, and various activities, there’s something for everyone here. However, before you move, there are some important things to consider. In this post I will explore five things you need to know before moving to Hazlet.

Location: Hazlet is great for commuting to New York City and enjoying a day at the beach. It borders several other townships, including Holmdel to the southwest, Aberdeen to the west, Middletown to the northwest and Union Beach to the northeast. The Raritan Bay is east of Hazlet, providing water access.

Things to do: Hazlet offers a variety of activities and attractions, including Bay Shore Waterfront Park, with beautiful views of the Raritan Bay, hiking trails, fishing areas and a playground. There are several other nearby parks, including  Holmdel Park, Dorbrook Recreation Center in Colts Neck, and Veterans Memorial Park right in Hazlet that features sports fields, playgrounds, and walking paths. If you’re traveling with family and kids, a short drive away is Keansburg Amusement Park, with rides, games, a waterpark, and a beach. And if you love to shop, visit the nearby town of Red Bank, which offers a variety of shops, boutiques, and galleries. It’s a charming town and area to explore.

Commuting: Hazlet’s location is ideal if traveling north to New York City. It’s only about an hour’s drive to Manhattan or Brooklyn, or you can take a train from Hazlet’s nearby train station. The train ride would take about 75 minutes to reach Penn Station in Midtown.

Housing Market: Hazlet’s housing market is rising, with prices increasing annually. However, compared to the average cost of living in New Jersey, Hazlet is relatively affordable. Whether you’re planning to rent or buy, there are plenty of options in the town and surrounding areas.

Weather: Like most towns in the northeast, Hazlet experiences all four seasons. Winters can be cold and snowy, while summers are hot and humid. Spring and fall offer mild weather and beautiful foliage. Be prepared for seasonal changes and bring appropriate clothing for all weather conditions.

Hazlet is a charming town with plenty to offer its residents. If you’re planning a move to the area, keep these five factors in mind. Hazlet’s prime location, abundant activities, and affordable housing make it an excellent place to call home.
